4 Tips to Practice Effectively
1. Focus on the task at hand.
If you want to get into deep focus you will need to turn off all distractions. Even reading one text message can effect your train of thought and creativity.
2. Start off slow… Gradually increase speed
As Bruce Lee said "1000 times slow for 1 time fast". When you are practicing, right or wrong, you brain is making neuropath ways. These pathways make your actions more fluid and readily available. BEWARE This is how bad habit are formed so, when you practice, make sure to pay attention to technique.
3. Frequent repetitions with short breaks…
Studies have shown that if you spend too long on a activity without a break the brain starts becoming accustomed to the stimuli of the activity and will slow down the speed of learning. In order to combat this, it is important to take breaks. After an hour training session, take an "active rest" and then come back on the mat for another hour of training.
4. Practice in your brain in vivid detail.
After you have physically practiced a motion, you are able to practice that motion in your mind and you will be able achieve the same level of progress. Of course there is a limit.. We suggest to start with 5-10 minutes of visualization a day. Close your eyes and imagine yourself doing your favorite move. It's important to pay attention to details like hand and body position.
