Level 1 Divisions

For New Competitors at JJWL

What is Level 1?

Level 1 is a beginner-friendly division designed to give new competitors the opportunity to compete against others who are also early in their competitive journey with the Jiu Jitsu league.

Eligibility Requirements

To compete in Level 1, you must have 3 wins or fewer in that specific division format (Gi or NoGi) at JJWL.

Once you reach 4 wins in a format, you will no longer qualify for Level 1 in that format.

If you qualify for Level 1, it will automatically appear as an option in your division list when registering. If you don't qualify, it won't show on your list.

Gi vs NoGi Divisions

Level 1 eligibility is tracked separately for Gi and NoGi formats. Your win count in one format does not affect your eligibility in the other.

Example: If you have 4 wins in NoGi and 2 wins in Gi, you would still qualify for Level 1 in Gi competitions, but not in NoGi competitions.

Points System

All Level 1 competitors earn points at half the rate of regular divisions.

This means if a win in a regular category is worth 10 points, a Level 1 win would be worth 5 points.

Why Choose Level 1?

  • Compete against others with similar experience levels
  • Build confidence in a supportive environment
  • Gain valuable competition experience early in your journey
  • Develop your skills without the pressure of facing highly experienced competitors

Level 1 is the perfect starting point for beginners looking to test their skills and grow as competitors in the JJWL league.

* If you register for multiple future events and a recent competition result causes you to no longer qualify for Level 1 (by reaching 4 wins), you will be automatically moved to a normal level category for any future events you've registered for.

* Eligibility for Level 1 is subject to change by Region or Division
